Siberian Husky

What You Need To Know

The Siberian husky is a beautiful dog, but.......IT IS NOT THE DOG FOR EVERYONE!

There are many people that purchase a dog for a pet before doing their homework about what it takes to provide a quality home for the dog.

The Siberian Husky will not work for someone that lives in an apartment, or being alone all day stuck in a house. They require the company of humans or other dogs, and do best when given something to do, as an outlet for their active minds. When you leave them alone they WILL get into trouble.

    • DIGGING HOLES IN THE YARD
    • CHEWING THE SEAT OFF THE LAWN MOWER
    • ESCAPING UNDER THE FENCE
    • KILLING THE NEIGHBOR'S CAT
    • GETTING RUN OVER BY A CAR AND KILLED

While none of us want things like this to happen to our beloved pet, they will unless the new owner takes precautions.

Be sure that your yard fence is at least five foot high or you have purchased a chain link dog run for your Husky. If you live in the Southern half of the country then provide lots of solid shade and a wading pool for the dog to play in. Introduce other animals, early in life to the new puppy, so that he becomes used to them. Do take the puppy to socialization and obedience classes. See your veterinarian for annual shots, wormings, and general check ups.

There is a responsibility for long term commitment involved with pets. THEY ARE NOT DISPOSABLE ITEMS. They are members of your family as are you children. They are not to be turned over to shelters or dumped on some country road because your life style changes. When you take on the responsibility of a dog you have made a life time commitment, so chose wisely.
